Bellevue Teachers’ Strike
The Bellevue Teachers went on strike. So, what?
Bellevue is one of the top school districts not only in Washington state but also in the nation. Three of its schools have consistently been at the top of Newsweek's list of best high schools around the country. Its teachers were on strike for the first two weeks of the school year protesting amongst other issues the application and enforcement of a Common Curriculum.
I met with two of the teachers from the district and through discussions with them and my own research, came to some revealing conclusions about the nature of public education.
