Comparison of Curriculum Ideologies

In an effort to understand dominant Curriculum Ideologies, I studied four ideologies, namely; Scholar Academic, Social Efficiency, Learner Centered, Social Reconstructionist, and compared them on the bases of the following key axes:

Goal of education and curriculum
Impact on Education
Social Context
Political Context
Learning Theory
Knowledge
View of the Child
View of the Educator
Learning Environment
Evaluation

I then took the framework created to inspect and understand the ideology dominant in 3 edcuational contexts:

Puget Sound Community School: Independent, progressive learner centered school for the 21st century.

University Child Development School: Private school focused on intellectual development in a learner centered environment.

National and State Standards: Understanding what curriculum ideology they represent.
