an introduction
I am a Seattle-based (United States) educator interested in innovative approaches to mindful holistic education. I know that is a mouthful, and I promise to clarify what I mean through this blog.
For the last 4 years, I have been connected with the progressive Puget Sound Community School, having taught full-time for 3 years and more recently working as a consultant with the school’s Director Andy Smallman. In my time at PSCS, I have had the opportunity to create a learning environment in which students feel trusted and honored for who they are. In multi-age classes, I taught any number of different topics based on student interest. My longest standing classes included teaching the Hindi language, cooking, science, cultural literature readings and Mathematics amongst others.
It is hard to tell, like it should be, whether I learnt more from my students or they learnt more from me. Whichever way, I have ended up with a desire to continue exploring the world of holistic learning in which every person is received, accepted and nourished as a whole. In this effort, I am currently pursuing graduate studies in education at Prescott College preparing for Teacher Certification in Elementary Education with the possibility of doing a Masters in the field. Apart from my shareit download personal reflections on education, this blog will also serve as documentation for some of my required coursework.

In the meantime, be well and smile often.
